Voting laws in Delaware

Lawmakers on Tuesday passed a measure that would offer Delaware residents a convenient way to register to vote and cast their ballot in one trip.

Rep. Sherry Dorsey Walker’s HB 25(S) would establish same-day voter registration in Delaware, eliminating the current deadline to register to vote that is nearly a month before an election. Residents would be allowed same-day registration for presidential, primary, state, special or special elections. Under HB 25(S), voters would still need a valid form of photo identification, or documents displaying the name and address of the qualified voter.

The bill now headed to the Senate committee for consideration yesterday.
