NEWS: State Police Seeking Citizens Interested in Learning About Law Enforcement Operations MARCH 6, 2023 —

The Delaware State Police are seeking citizens who want to take part in the 2023 Spring Citizens Police Academy. Applications are being accepted now for the academy, which will begin Wednesday, March 29.

The coursework will consist of nine Wednesday night sessions, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Most of the classes will take place at Delaware State Police Troop 7 (19444 Mulberry Knoll Road, Lewes) and the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center (21911 Rudder Lane, Georgetown).

Applications can be submitted online through the Citizens Police Academy website until March 15 using this link: https://dsp.delaware.gov/citizens-police-academy/

Note: Participants will receive instruction on evidence processing, criminal and traffic investigations, tours of DSP facilities, familiarization with special units, and other topics. Citizens will also have opportunities for ride-a-longs with troopers.

Class size will be limited to 25 participants and background checks will be conducted on all applicants.
