Rep. Hilovsky in the Community–July 28, 2023
Last week, State Rep. Jeff Hilovsky attended a Town Hall held by the Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) to discuss ongoing efforts to research, develop, and implement solutions to improve service delivery at Delaware’s State Service Centers.

The meeting, hosted by the Georgetown Public Library, was one of four held at locations throughout the state during mid and late July.
The events solicited citizen feedback, answered questions, and highlighted some of the changes that will soon be implemented at the centers.
State Rep. Jeff Hilovsky recently had an opportunity to visit the Verizon Innovation STEM Summer Camp. The two-week program is fully funded by Verizon and has been hosted by Delaware State University since 2016. Led by Ms. Lillie Crawford and Mr. Vaughn Hopkins, this unique learning experience provides students the opportunity to participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities in a challenging, fun environment. Students rotate through activities like designing, building, and coding a computer game with an “under the sea” theme; using computer-assisted design software; utilizing 3-D printers; and programming a robotic car to maneuver through an obstacle course. Participants also work together as a team to market and pitch a product in a “Shark Tank-like” entrepreneurial setting. “I was impressed with what I saw,” Rep. Hilovsky said. “This type of hands-on, practical experience can uniquely inspire and motivate youths interested in pursuing a technology-based career path. Verizon and everyone associated with this camp have reason to be proud of the work they are doing.” |
