Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 65

Posted on 08-02-2022

Trade and blue-collar jobs are in high demand throughout the state, but the availability of qualified and certified employees has been limited. Senate Republicans committed to closing this discrepancy during the 151st General Assembly.

Drafted by Senator Pettyjohn, the bipartisan Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 65 establishes a program similar to SEED, allowing eligible individuals who wish to enroll in a non-degree certificate program to receive up to $10,000 in financial aid. The bill became law in May 2021.
