As we wrap up the 151st General Assembly, June 30th often marks the end of an era for a few of Delaware’s legislators.
Unfortunately, today is no exception.
Senator Ernie López, the first Hispanic to serve in the Delaware State Senate, was elected in 2012 after the 6th Senate District was redrawn from New Castle County to eastern Sussex. During his tenure, Senator López has been a fierce advocate for the constituents in his district, which encompasses Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Lewes and Milton. He was the prime sponsor of Riley’s Law in 2016, The Living Donor Protection Act earlier this year, and other vital pieces of legislation throughout his ten years in office.
We thank Senator López for his exceptional career in the General Assembly and for his service to the people of Delaware. Ernie, you will be greatly missed.
