                                                                                                                September 2, 2023

Greetings, fellow Republicans,

September is here and children will be returning to school this week. We wish them all well in their academic pursuits.

September also launches the festival and parade season.  Your Sussex GOP is already scheduled for the following events:

  • 9/26 – the Milford Riverwalk Festival
  • 9/17 – the Hispanic Festival – Georgetown
  • 10/1 – Wings and Wheels – Georgetown
  • 10/15 – Apple Scrapple – Bridgeville
  • 10/28 – Sea Witch Parade – Rehoboth

We need volunteers to assist with putting up and taking down our booth as well as manning the booth during the festival hours.  We also need volunteers to help decorate our float for the SeaWitch Parade.  These festivals are an important way for us to connect with the various communities.  If you are available, please see the Volunteer sign up form at https://sussexgop.org/events-volunteer-sign-up-form/

I also wanted to remind you about a couple of events coming up that I’m hoping you are interested in attending.

Note: this event is free but requires registration in order to be in compliance with regulations for the auditorium. Thank you in advance for your participation in this event to become more aware of the signs.

At 6 PM on September 12, 2023 the Sussex GOP in conjunction with the State Senate

Republican Caucus is sponsoring a Human Trafficking Town Hall at Sussex Central High School, 26026 Patriot’s Way in Georgetown.  Please join us for an informative discussion on human trafficking in the First State. Learn to recognize the signs of human trafficking, how to support its victims and how the state is trying to stop this modern-day form a slavery.

The speaker line-up includes Caroline Brittingham, Deputy Attorney General with the Human Trafficking Unit of the DE Attorney General’s office; Yolanda Montgomery, of Zoe Ministries; and Detective Hogate, of the DE State Police.

Finally, if you are ready for a good time and like rock and roll, please consider attending the Sussex County Republican Women’s Club’s dinner-dance and fundraiser featuring the Fabulous Greaseband.  I have heard this excellent band a number of times and can personally vouch for this talented group of musicians and vocalists.  You can hear a sample by going to: http://scrwc.net/.  Click on the Greaseband picture and you’ll be directed to another page with the ability to hear a clip of the music.
