FEBRUARY 28, 2022 — Governor John Carney today announced that he will sign an order terminating the COVID-19 State of Emergency and the masking requirement in public and private K-12 schools and childcare facilities effective tomorrow evening (3/1).
Masking will not be required in K-12 schools, on school buses, or in childcare facilities after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 3/1.
Governor Carney also announced that vaccine and testing requirements for educators and state employees will expire at 11:59 p.m. tonight (2/28).
In a news release issued today, the governor’s office said the new actions are consistent with the latest guidance issued Friday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The mask requirement in most state facilities will be lifted starting on Wednesday, 3/2
While the governor indicated his State of Emergency order would be lifted tomorrow (3/1), a narrower Public Health Emergency Order will be issued. The updated order will reportedly allow hospitals and long-term care facilities continued flexibility to respond to COVID-19 cases.
